For Vehicle Self Containment Certification (Green Sticker) the composting toilet needs to have a minimum urine storage of 1 litre per day, per person storage for three days. This can be in the main liquids storage bottle or secondary secured liquids storage bottle/s.
Additional specialty urine bottles for the OGO Origin, OGO Nomad or Nature’s Head Composting Toilets can be purchased from us. They must be stored securely in your van, caravan or tow car.
To prevent any smell developing in the urine bottle, after rinsing the bottle simply add 10 ml of household bleach (Janola) to the bottle. For spare containers use the ratio of 20 ml Janola for each 10 litres of capacity.
Flushing the urine portion of the bowl with 1/4 cup of clean water after each use will also help to keep the toilet hygienic and prevent staining or smell from any residual urine. You can also give it a spray after use with a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water to sanitise it.
